YB. TUAN HAJI AKMAL BIN HAJI MOHD NASIR

YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Haji Mohd Nasir is a dedicated public servant with strong experience in economic policy, governance, and public administration. He holds a double major in Actuarial Science and Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, United States, and received his early education at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK). His background has shaped his analytical and data-driven approach in addressing national issues.

He currently serves as the Minister of Economy, a role he assumed in 2025, where he focuses on structural shifts to build sustainable, inclusive and resilient economic growth. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Minister of Water Transformation and Energy Transition (2023–2025) and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government (2022–2023). Throughout his tenure, he led key initiatives such as the Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Taskforce, the Illegal Bitcoin Mining Taskforce, and the Malaysia Energy Literacy Program (MELP), addressing critical challenges in housing, energy, and resource management.

YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Haji Mohd Nasir is also the Member of Parliament for Johor Bahru and has been actively involved in parliamentary debates and policymaking. He previously served as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and represented Malaysia at international platforms including the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). Earlier in his career, he co-founded the National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre (NOW) and held roles at the Selangor Economic Advisor Office and INVOKE, contributing to research-driven policy development and governance reforms.

YBHG. Dato’ Nor Azmie Diron​​

Dato’ Nor Azmie Diron is a seasoned public servant with a distinguished career in government administration, spanning nearly three decades. He holds a Diploma in Public Administration from INTAN, a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Economics from the University of Malaya, and a Master’s Degree in Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Appointed to the TERAJU Board of Trustees on 27 March 2023, Dato’ Nor Azmie currently serves as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy. His career has included key roles such as Assistant Registrar at the University of Malaya (1993–1994), various senior positions within the Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (1995–2003), and Chief Assistant Director in the Prime Minister’s Department (2004–2007). He also served as Deputy Director at UPEN (2007–2015) and Deputy Secretary of the Selangor State Government (2015–2017).

Dato’ Nor Azmie has also held significant financial and leadership roles, including State Financial Officer (2018–2021) and Selangor State Secretary (2021). Before his current position, he served as Deputy Director General of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister’s Department, in 2022.

Dato’ Nor Azmie’s extensive experience in economic planning and public administration continues to shape Malaysia’s economic strategies and governance.

YBRS. Dr. Nirwan Bin Noh

Dr. Nirwan Bin Noh Ramli is an accomplished economist with over 20 years of experience in public administration, economic policy, and trade development. Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s fiscal and economic policies, with a focus on international trade, industrial growth, and economic research.

Dr. Nirwan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from McGill University, Canada, an M.Phil in International Finance and Economic Policy from the University of Glasgow, UK, and a Ph.D. in Economics, specialising in international trade, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Appointed to the TERAJU Board of Trustees on 1 August 2024, Dr. Nirwan concurrently serves as Deputy Undersecretary (Economic Research) at the Ministry of Finance.

His previous appointments included senior leadership roles at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and Prime Minister’s Department, where he contributed to national economic planning and policy formulation.
