Economy Ministry announces realignment of three Bumiputera-mandated agencies

20 May 2024, PETALING JAYA: The Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) has lauded the move to realign three bumiputra-mandated agencies under the supervision of the Economy Ministry.

“Perdasama recommends that grants and schemes be continuously given, especially to bumiputra companies that demonstrate merit and high capability,” its president Mohd Azamanizam Baharon said in a statement on Monday (May 20).

He expressed hope that the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju), one of the realigned agencies, along with the ministry will continue to assist bumiputra businesses in the “high value chain” sector and value-added economic activities.

“Perdasama agrees that the bumiputra business community should not rely on grants and government aid alone.

“The ministry’s initiative to cultivate an ecosystem that encourages mutual growth with the involvement of private entities, angel investors, and other forms of private equity investment is a commendable step towards placing Malaysia on the path to becoming a high-income nation,” he said.

Earlier today, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli announced the realignment of Teraju, Yayasan Peneraju (Peneraju) and Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) to empower and boost bumiputra economic participation.
